Our Club

The Fish Hawks Saltwater Anglers Club was founded in 1977 as a non-profit fishing club. The common goal was to form a club dedicated to good sportsmanship, preservation of the marine environment, safe guarding our natural resources and providing social and recreational activities to its members

Each year since, our membership has increased, and the Club is now one of the largest and most active fishing clubs in New Jersey, with approx. 140 members, devoted primarily to fishing for a variety of saltwater species. Expertise of members ranges from novice to expert, from fishing, crabbing, and clamming in the backwaters of Barnegat Bay, to the canyons ninety miles offshore.

Meetings are held at 7:30 P.M. on the first Thursday of each month (except December and January)  at the Lacey Elks Lodge, 900 Beach Blvd, Forked River, N.J., guests are welcome. The agenda usually includes an informative guest speaker and/or video presentation.

We have a variety of Social Events including our Annual Awards Banquet at the Captains Inn, a family style picnic and a members only pizza and beer meeting.

We hold a Youth Fishing Seminar each year where we teach young people different aspects of fishing such as; Casting, Water Safety, and fish id.  The children that attend are from Military Families stationed at the Joint Bases, McGuire, Dix, Lakehurst.

We participate in Operation Hook It where we take at-risk Vets out for a day of fishing at no charge to the Vet.  Upon returning to the dock we supply the Vets with a lunch sponsored by the Gold Star Mothers Department of N.J.

For members, we have a Monthly Fishing contest which runs from April to December,  a Ladies only Fluke Tournament and several member fishing trips each year for various species including, Fluke, Sea Bass and Blackfish.  Members can also call other club members for assistance out on the water or for fishing reports on the Club VHF radio channel #19.

We have a monthly newsletter that is either mailed to your home or emailed. The newsletter includes information on current legislation, discounts from advertisers, Presidents message and the "Hawk" which focuses on club activities and fishing regulations.

We also sponsor an Annual Fishing Flea Market in March.
